Core Principle
We do not monitor your habits, measure your typing speed, or listen to your voice. Network activity in Nova is limited strictly to checking for new application updates and handling crash reports if you choose to enable them.
What Is Collected for Update Checks
When the app checks for new releases, the update server receives a standard HTTP GET request with:
- Current app version (e.g.
0.1.0). - OS name and CPU architecture (e.g.
Linux x86_64orWindows 11 x64). - Release channel (stable or beta).
What Is NEVER Sent
The following guarantees are enforced in Nova's open codebase:
- Zero audio recordings: Audio is sent exclusively to the speech provider credentials you provide.
- Zero transcripts or drafts: Every word and punctuation correction is stored locally.
- Zero API keys: Keys remain safely encrypted on your device.
- Zero target window or application names: Even when auto-inserting text, Nova never logs the names or titles of other programs.
Anonymous Identifier
Nova creates a random 16-character identifier upon first installation. This ID contains no personal information, is not linked to any account or email, and exists solely to gauge active installations anonymously.
Control and Disabling
You can turn off automatic update checks and all diagnostics at any time by navigating to «Nova Settings › Privacy & Security». Once disabled, no network signals will ever leave Nova outside of your direct voice transcription requests.
