Set up your first dictation.

After downloading Nova, follow these steps to start your first spoken draft.

  1. 01

    Install the app

Open the installer. In early preview, if Windows protected your PC appears, choose More info, then Run anyway.

Double-click the .deb package to install via Ubuntu App Center, or run in terminal: sudo dpkg -i nova_0.1.0_amd64.deb.

Double-click the .rpm package to install via GNOME Software, or run in terminal: sudo dnf install -y ./nova-0.1.0-1.x86_64.rpm.

Grant execute permissions: chmod +x Nova-0.1.0-x86_64.AppImage then run it directly with a double-click as a standalone portable bundle.

  2. 02

    Launch Nova & check tray

Setup finishes in seconds and Nova starts immediately. You'll find the Nova icon resting in your system tray (near the clock) ready to be invoked anytime.

  3. 03

    Connect your model access securely

In Settings, enter your private AI provider key. Your audio never touches third-party proxies; it streams directly and securely to the processing endpoint.

  4. 04

Start with a small spoken sentence

Press the record button or your hotkey, speak naturally, and watch your spoken words convert instantly into polished text ready to copy or insert.

“Hey Sara let's move the project planning to Thursday morning and make sure the new voice transcription designs are included in the preview.”
